Royal Caribbean has announced a great, new Late Departure program that allows customers with late flights to stay onboard until just before the next sailing departs.
For now, the program is available to passengers on select European sailings aboard Adventure of the Seas, Brilliance of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Jewel of the
Seas, Navigator of the Seas, Splendour of the Seas, Vision of the Seas and Voyager
of the Seas.
Guests may depart independently throughout the day, up to 90 minutes prior to the next sailing’s departure. Passengers must still vacate their cabin by 9 a.m., but have the option of using all of the amenities available to guests coming onboard — including lounging by the pool, unwinding in the Day Spa or Fitness Center, or enjoying a buffet lunch in the Windjammer Café.
Luggage will be stored off the ship and supervised by staff within the terminal, and passengers will be given a wristband to match to their bags when they eventually disembark.
On occasion, I have had to disembark cruise ships many hours prior to my flight home and find a way to kill the time — which is not always easy — so I am very excited to hear about this program and hopeful that it will spread to other ships and lines.
The Late Departure program is booked onboard like a day-of-departure shore excursion and costs $35 per adult and $17 per child age 3 to 17 (free for kids under 3).
